Description:

Dated "12-41" on the Remington barrel. Found in the serial number block (3,000,000 to 3,050,000) of the early Remington produced Model 1903. These were provided as lend-lease rifle to the British. Remington began to produce this model in November 1941 with about 1,273 manufactured before producing the Model 1903 Modified. "R" marked blade front sight, rear tangent sight graduated to 2,700 yards and barrel band with bayonet lug. Standard U.S./Remington model receiver markings, with single crown/BNP proofs marked on the left side of the barrel near the gas escape hole and near the barrel band, left receiver wall and bolt handle. The left side of the barrel near the breech is also marked ".30/06 2.494/18 TONS PER]". Standard military stock with finger grooved forearm and marked with a boxed "RLB" on the left side above the trigger. Factory inspection proofs in front of the trigger guard and a circle "P" behind the trigger guard. Consignor reports that he purchased this rifle in the 1950s. No further research was conducted and the buyer should make his/her own conclusions and continue research.

Rating Definition:

The rifle retains approximately 95% of the current parkerized finish with a thinning and wear on the edges and high spots with the barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate are browning out slightly, and blue loss on the bolt. The stock is very good with some minor dings, dents and scratches. Missing stacking sling. All markings are legible with some of the British proofs beginning to fade.
