These were the standard Winchester Model 1200 shotguns that were adapted for the military by adding on bayonet lug and U.S. markings. Most were destroyed after they were replaced by the Mossberg 500 series cast shotguns. The U.S. military purchased these shotguns between 1968 and 1969. The barrel is equipped with the a six hole pattern heat shield with the bayonet lug attachment on the front end. The bayonet lug has the drawing number "11686389" cast into the metal. The top of the barrel and receiver have the standard Winchester circled "WP" proof marks and is correctly stamped "CYL" on the left side of the barrel in front of the receiver. The barrel is marked on the left side "U.S./WINCHESTER MODEL 1200-12GA. 2 3/4 CHAM/MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL." The underside of the receiver is stamped with the serial number over "U.S." and "AAD 10-88". The stock and pump handle are walnut with an oiled and fitted with a black plastic serrated Boyd buttplate. Parkerized with blue receiver. It is equipped with a set of military style sling swivels.

Excellent. The shotgun retains approximately 98-99% of the original parkerized finish with some minor scratches and a gray patina forming on some of the high edges. The receiver retains approximately 99% of the original blue finish with some gray patina on the high edges. The wood is excellent with some minor dings and scratches. The markings are clear and crisp.
