Description:

Very early WW II M1 carbine. Manufactured by the Underwood Typewriter Company for the U.S. Army. The barrel is marked, "UNDERWOOD/11-42/ordnance bomb" and "P". Receiver marked with the M1 carbine nomenclature and "UNDERWOOD" above the serial number. Blade front sight with protectors and early flip down rear sight, with type 1 barrel band without bayonet lug. Also features "U" marked dogleg hammer with 22 coil spring, unmodified double bevel "U" marked trigger housing with spring pin and straight seer spring. Mounted with an arsenal re-cut low wood stock with "I" oiler cut. "AAR" marked on the left side above the trigger, a red "9" painted on the right side of the buttstock and "RMC 8" on the cut-out. Complete with green canvas sling. With Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) box, CMP papers, reproduction 1942 dated carbine Army manual and a copy of a contemporary date sheet confirming the current configuration.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with approximately 99% of the dark green parkerized finish remaining with some minor scratches and gray patina on the high edges. The arsenal re-cut stock is very good with some minor dings and scratches and a few moderate gouges, with a deep gouge near the magazine well. The right side has an area of moderate dings, chips and scratches. The markings are clear. The sling is excellent.
