A) Marlin XXX Standard 1872 Pocket Revolver

Description:

Manufactured between 1873 and 1876. Fixed sights, with the rib marked "XXX STANDARD 1872" and the one line address/patent marking on the left side of the barrel, flanked by a floral-like engraving that is more elaborate on the other side. Spur trigger, 5 round fluted cylinder and smooth pearl bird head grips (left grip is missing but screw is included). The frame and backstrap are scroll and punch dot engraved, with a diamond engraving between the cylinder flutes.

Rating Definition:

Good, with the frame retaining approximately 90% of the nickel finish and the barrel and cylinder retaining approximately 40% of the nickel finish. There are some minor nicks on the muzzle and some very light pin prick pitting overall. The markings are very faint. The right grip is good with a large chip missing around the screw hole and smooth yellow patina around the edges. Mechanically needs work.

Description:

Manufactured from 1875 to 1887. The rib is marked with the one line model designation and the one line New Haven address/patent marking is on the left barrel side. Blade front and frame notch sights, 5-round long fluted cylinder and checkered bird head grips with a star at the tops. The barrel sides, top of the rib, area between the cylinder flutes, top of the frame and backstrap are engraved with a zig zag and dot pattern, with a scroll and punch dot engraved frame.

Rating Definition:

Good, with the barrel and cylinder having been polished to a bright metal finish. The frame retains approximately 95% of the nickel finish with limited deep corrosion on the butt. There is some minor pin prick pitting overall. The grips are excellent with some light scratches and a few minor nicks. The checkering is sharp. The markings are clear.
