This is an example of a Marlin Deluxe M1893 Rifle with factory engraving that was manufactured in 1894. The rifle features a half-round/half-octagon barrel, half-magazine, fancy walnut, checkered pistol grip stock and forearm.The rifle has a high polish blue barrel and casehardened receiver, hammer, loading lever and crescent buttplate. The barrel is fitted with a "Rocky Mountain" front sight with nickel silver blade and a sporting type rear sight with elevator. The rifle features Marlin Grade No. 2 engraving with a buck and hound in an oval on the left side of the receiver, surrounded by open scroll work on a stippled background and engraved borders. The right side of the receiver and bolt are engraved with Germanic scrollwork on a stippled background with engraved borders. The top of the receiver has three engraved panels; the central panel is marked "MARLIN SAFETY" with arrows on either end of the marking. The engraving extends to the bottom of the receiver and the upper receiver tang. The upper receiver is roll-stamped "MODEL/1893" and the marking is surrounded by an engraved border. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the legend: "MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN CT. U.S.A." with stylized arrows at either end above: "PATENTED. OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2. 1889. AUGUST 1. 1893." ahead of the rear sight. The caliber, "38-55", is stamped on the top barrel flat just ahead of the receiver. The serial number is stamped on the bottom of the receiver.

Very good. The rifle has been partially professionally restored and has a high polish blue finish on the barrel. The barrel, magazine and forend cap have 99% of the high polish blue; the caliber markings on the barrel are light. The case colors on the receiver, hammer, loading lever and butt plate are muted and appear to be original. There is some very minor age spotting and finish loss on the loading lever. The engraving is crisp. The heel of the buttplate has some light surface oxidation; the finish appears to be original with strong case colors. The stock and forearm are in excellent condition with crisp checkering and most of the original low-luster varnish. Wear is limited to some very minor storage marks. This is an attractive example of a deluxe, factory engraved Marlin Model 1893 rifle.
