Active from 1841 to 1870, F.H. Clark & Company was a group of Memphis businessmen who sold a wide variety of items, including diamonds and cutlery. Not manufacturers themselves, they sold both original Deringer, and American produced copies. Nickel bead front and notch rear sights on the barrel and tang, with "P" on the upper left flat ahead of the breech, "DERINGER/ PHILADELA'' on the top, scroll engraved breech and "MANd FOR / F.H. Clark &Co. / MEMPHIS, TENN." on the barrel. Smooth bore. An additional ''DERINGER/ PHILADELA'' is stamped on the lock plate. With a hardwood ramrod and a cap box with spring loaded iron door. German silver tip, wedge escutcheons, oval initial plate and buttcap, with scroll engraved iron trigger guard, lock, hammer and tang, checkerboard on the ramrod pipe, burst patterns on the bolster, butt and cap box door. Walnut stock with checkered bag shaped butt.

Good. A Damascus-style pattern is visible on the barrel, with a mixed gray on the lower rib, a few lighter spots and some mild pitting. A lighter gray is visible on the casehardened parts, with hints of brown color under the hammer. Silver is good, with an oversized butt and overall bright patina. Grip is good, with exception of a mended crack through the wrist and pressure dents. Mechanically functions fine.
