This example of a counterfeit English pistol has fine, well executed defining markings of the Philadelphia Deringer, with the addition of a "crown/ B" proof on the underside of the barrel and three hallmarks on the rear of the trigger guard. German silver blade front and notch rear sights, with a twist pattern on the barrel, "P" flanked by zig-zag lines on the left breech flat, and scroll engraved tang. "DERINGER/ PHILADELA" is marked on the lock and breech. Scroll engraved hammer, lock and trigger guard, burst pattern on the bolster and a pineapple on the finial. All other silver furniture is smooth. Checkered stock, with a silver wedge inlayed Schnabel tip and a bird head butt.

Rating Definition:

Fine. A bright patina is visible on the leading edges of the barrel, with a mixed brown and gray on top and strongly defined spiral pattern on the underside. The lock, hammer and tang show a dark gray overall, brighter in the protected areas. An aged patina is showing on the silver, showing bright on the raised areas, turned nearly black in some patches. The stock is fine, with a few mild dings, and an excellent grain pattern. Mechanically excellent.
