Description:

Manufactured in the 1860s with a total production of about 3,000. Equipped with a tapering 3 inch barrel cluster and breech plate that rotates 90 degrees counter clockwise exposing the loading gate. After loading the breech plate is turned back so that the pistol can be fired. When the breech plate is turned for loading it also acts as a safety. Marked "RUPERTUS' PAT PISTOL MFG CO / PHILADa" around the hammer screw on the right side of the frame and "RUPERTUS' PATENT / JULY 19TH 1864" around the hammer screw on the left side plate. Blue barrels, silver played brass frame and fitted with dark two-piece rosewood grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel cluster retains approximately 30% of the original faded blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina overall. The frame retains approximately 60% of the original silver-plating. The grips are excellent with some minor scratches, some light bottom edge wear and limited varnish flaking. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically excellent.
