Produced from 1866 to 1869. Half moon front sight on pivoting barrel marked "SOUTHERNER" on the top flat and "MERRIMACK ARMS & MFG CO/ NEWBURYPORT, MASS./ PATENTED APRIL 9, 1867" on the left side. Casehardened smooth trigger and checkered hammer, fitted to a silver finished brass frame with scroll engraving and punch-dot backgrounds covering the sides. The grips are smooth ivory with a square butt. Matching numbers are present on the butt, barrel and extractor

Fine. The barrel has approximately 30-40% of the faded original blue finish, mixed with areas of smooth gray with minor handling marks and scattered brown spotting overall. The frame is fine, with original silver remaining in the protected areas and an attractive patina on the exposed brass, with a darker tone inside the engraving. Mechanically very good. Grips are fine, with beautiful color and grain.
