Description:

Believed to have been produced sometime in the 1870s or 1880s. Seven and 7/8 inch blade, symmetrically double edged, and marked "GEORGE BUTLER & Co/ (key logo)/ TRINITY WORKS/ SHEFFIELD/ ENGLAND" on the upper left side. German silver handguard, round with a pair of rectangular extensions, the upper extension drilled to accept a retention clip. Ebony handle, 5" long with a 3/8" ribbed German silver collar and a stud on the pommel. With a brown leather sheath, marked "SHEFFIELD/ ART/ ENGLAND" and "(key logo)/ G. BUTLER/ & CO" on the front, with a spiked retention clip in the throat.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with mild spotting and scratching on the otherwise very fine blade, along with some etching along the top of the ricasso. Silver is fine as period repaired, with a set of four rivets securing a pair of cracks in the throat and fine color. A thin crack runs down the underside of the grip, which is otherwise very good. Sheath is very fine, with some mild wear.
