Description:

This is an excellent example of an prewar WWII German 22 caliber single shot training rifle. These rifles were a standard prewar training rifle that was pressed into service by Germany during the prewar days to provide a low cost training rifle to all military forces. They were specifically intended to duplicate the feel, weight and functioning of the standard K98 rifle. The top of the receiver ring is marked with the stylized "G" logo over "GUSTLOFF-WERKE / Waffenwerk-Suhl" with the right rear side marked " KK. Wehrsportgewehr". The left rear side of the barrel is marked "KAL 22 LANGE FUR BUCHSEN", followed by the serial number and the "Eagle/N" proof mark. It has the military style inverted "V" front sight and tangent rear sight, graduated from 25-200 feet. The stock is European walnut with two barrel bands, hand guard, bayonet lug, sling swivels, and steel butt plate. It is complete with an original WWII brown leather sling and cleaning rod. The bayonet is a early commercial contract model that is marked "RICH A. HERDER" on the left side of the blade with just the serial number on the right side, with two Waffenamts on the rear section of the handle. The bayonet and scabbard have matching numbers.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 98% of the original blue finish with just edge and high spot wear overall with a little more thinning on the front barrel band and top of the receiver from light use. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition with no cracks or damage and show only minor handling marks and just a couple of very small minor chips on the very rear edge of the butt stock in front of the butt plate. The bayonet retains 98% of it blued finish but has been arsenal dip blued with some slight pitting on the end of the blade.
