Dated 1877 on the bright receiver, with the model markings on the left side with the magazine cutoff switch and the barrel immediately ahead is marked "crown/ F.W", "crown/ SPANDAU", and has several "crown/ gothic letter" proofs. Blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to "16". Smooth straight grip stock with 3 barrel bands, four proof stamps behind the trigger guard, two on the right side of the butt, and a flat steel buttplate marked "4.G.R./ E.4.89" on the heel. Matching full or partial numbers on all visible parts.

Excellent plus. The rifle appears to be un-issued with 98% of the current blue, showing a few small dots of spotting and brown patina and mild dings. Spotting is visible on the receiver, with a few light dings. Stock is excellent with very minor storage marks. The stock has very crisp inspection marks, sharp markings. Action is excellent. An outstanding Mauser Model 71/84 rifle.
