Description:

This was the most plentiful of all the Colt percussion revolvers with approximately 325,000 produced from 1850 to 1873. This revolver was manufactured in 1855. The top of the barrel is marked with the second type barrel address reading in two lines "ADDRESS COL SAMl COLT/ NEW YORK CITY". Blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated trigger guard and grip frame and casehardened hammer, frame and loading lever. Stagecoach holdup scene roll engraved on the cylinder and walnut smooth grips. All serial numbers match including partial serial number on the loading lever "6876".

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. Approximately 20-30% original blue finish remains on the barrel thinning down the length along high points and edges exhibiting some overall handling marks. The loading lever is now a mottled gray patina displaying faint traces of original casehardened pattern. The cylinder is an even gray aged patina, the scene is still crisp and visible. The hammer and frame are both an even dark aged patina with some minor handling marks. The grip strap and trigger guard retain 95% of original silver plated finish which have mostly darkened the balance is a pleasant mellow brass patina. The grips are very fine with most of the original varnish. The action is fine. From the Will Hoffeld Collection.
