Description:

This is a pre-Model 12 Airweight revolver, produced on government contract for the U.S. Air Force (who designated it the Model 13 Air Crewmen) and requested the revolvers be stamped "M13". The revolvers were intended for use by flight crews as survival weapons in the event of an emergency. The model was rejected in 1960 because of problems with the alloy cylinder and most were destroyed by the government. It is equipped with a 2 inch barrel, checkered walnut grips and an alloy cylinder (cylinder numbered "33970"). Top of the frame is marked "REVOLVER, LIGHTWEIGHT, M13" and backstrap "PROPERTY OF U.S. AIR FORCE". Grips are checkered walnut with diamond patterns around the screw and silver S&W medallions. Complete with a black leather flap holster marked "USAF" on the flap and a white nylon tie down strap.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains approximately 90% of the original black anodized finish with loss limited to minor muzzle wear and extensive flaking on the cylinder. The grips are in near new condition with only a couple of minor dents. The markings are crisp. The action is excellent. The holster is excellent showing very little wear. Barrel and cylinder do not match the frame, however we believe the frame is correct since the Government declared all Aircrewman to be destroyed, we believe this to be assembled from parts.
