Description:

This is an early Colt Model 1911A1 manufactured in early 1942 that has a parkerized finish, that is complete issue rig. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt two-line, two-block address/patent marking with the Rampant Colt in the center and a single "P" on top of the slide in front of the rear sight. The slide is numbered (and matching) around the firing pin hole (under firing pin stop). The left side of the frame has the boxed "WB." inspection initials for Col. Waldemar S. Broberg with the single "P" below the magazine release. The right side has "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number and "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" ahead of the slide stop hole. It has the wide, checkered spur hammer, checkered thumb safety, checkered slide release, and arched and checkered main spring housing. The barrel is a commercial replacement that is only marked on top of the chamber, "45 ACP" with no other proofs. The grips are the correct early versions that do not have reinforcing ribs and are marked only with a single mold number on each side. As noted this pistol is complete with the following accessories; original US marked GI web belt, M1911A1 leather holster marked Boyt 44, an original USMC /CAMILLUS N.Y., marked M3 fighting knife with leather sheath , an early GI canteen, cup and pouch, with an original 1942 dated clip pouch with two GI magazines inside, with a marked first aid pouch marked B.M.C. 1942, with the tin and bandage inside.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with 70% of the thin original wartime parkerized finish remaining with even honest wear overall, specifically on the grip straps, edges and high spots. The grips are also in very good condition with no cracks or damage. The holster is in excellent condition showing a nice light brown color on the leather with tight stitching and sharp markings. The knife is in very fine condition overall showing 90% of the original parkerized finish with wear on the cross-guard, edges and high spots with the finish having browned out overall. The grips are dark and shows some wear. The sheath is in good condition showing heavy marks and scuffing overall with tight stitching. The web belt and canvas case are in very good condition showing a nice matching color on each piece with some fraying and wear spots from actual field use. Overall a very nice example of a complete Model 1911A1 issue rig.
