Description:

Produced shortly after the end of World War II, this pistol represents one of the first arms projects of Gordon Ingram, noted designer of the Western Arms Company rifles and Model 10 Sub-Machine Gun. Intended as a low cost alternative to the Colt Woodsman, the project was derailed by Ingram's shift in emphasis to automatic weapons and the introduction of the Ruger Standard Model MKI pistol. Made without sights, several parts are absent, but the design suggests a simple blowback operation with a magazine well in the grip, backstrap mainspring, checkered hammer and smooth trigger. Included with the gun are documents related to Ingram arms and this pistol in particular, including an invoice from Mechanical Research Laboratories for parts and materials for the gun, and a brown Van Heusen Baker Street jacket, size M, with a Cobray pin on the left breast and a nametag on the left pocket reading "1995 SHOT SHOW/ 17878 TL/ GORDON INGRAM/ COLLECTOR'S ARMORY/ ALEXANDRIA, VA".

Rating Definition:

Fine. Roughly 70% of the pistol received a blue finish on most of the surface, the rest of the area a spotted bright gray, and some gray on the high edges. PLEASE NOTE: This arm is a prototype, and Rock Island Auction Company makes no assurances about its current or possible future function, and disclaims all responsibility for the arm following sale.
