Description:

Thin double edged blade, measuring 36" from tip to the handguard, with short single fullers, marked "FRANCISCO" in the left fuller and "RUIZ N TOL" in the right. A Francisco Ruiz operated as a swordmaker in Toledo, active in the early 1600's, but this has not been confirmed as his work. Solid bell hilt with integral knuckleguard, attached with screws at the crossguard and pommel, with extra long dual quillions (8 1/2" tip to tip), wire wrapped metal grip, and faceted knob pommel. Light border engraving is present on the hilt, with a stylized heart cutout below the front quillion. Very good, with some small areas of pitting, scattered spotting, and some mild dings and dents overall.
