Description:

Classic contemporary made copy of a Kentucky flintlock pistol. The pistol has a browned, rifled, .45 caliber half octagon barrel with a dovetailed blade front sight and a target rear sight. The lock has a pointed tip, beveled edges with a delicate goose-neck cock and fenced iron pan. The nicely figured walnut stock is wedge fastened and has relief-carved panels around the lock and side-plate and relief-carved scroll-work around the barrel tang. The stock has a brass forend, ramrod pipes, side plate, trigger guard and buttcap. The pistol has a hickory ramrod. The top barrel flat is inscribed with the maker's name: "RichD Miller". The initials "KS" are inscribed on an oval silver plate behind the barrel tang. This pistol perfectly duplicates the classic Kentucky pistols made just after the turn of the 18th Century and is nearly impossible to distinguish from a fine original pistol.

Rating Definition:

Very good-fine. The pistol has much of the brown finish on the barrel with some light edge wear. The lock has a mellow brown patina with some very minor flash pitting. The stock is in very fine condition with most of the original semi-gloss oil finish, sharp edges and minimal handling wear. The brass furniture has a mellow, un-polished aged patina. This high quality Kentucky pistol was made in the mid 20th Century but could easily be mistaken for a fine, classic Kentucky pistol from the early 1800s.
