Description:

Manufactured between 1864 and 1870, the number of original boxes remaining today in any condition is extremely small, whittled down by over 139 years of attrition. Fixed sights, with the Moore address on the barrel and William's patent markings on the cylinder, each finished in a rich blue. Silver finished frame, with scroll and punch-dot engraving on the side panels and behind the hammer, and radiating bursts on the recoil shield. Smooth two-piece bird's head grips. The cardboard box measures 7 1/4" long, 3 1/4" wide and 1 1/2" deep, white interior and bottom with green sides, and the lid is brown cardboard with a green label 6 3/4" long and 3" wide, printed with a large woodcut style picture of the arm dominating the space and the text "NEW MODEL/ CARTRIDGE REVOLVER/ MANUFACTURED BY/ Moore's Patent Fire Arms Company,/ BROOKLYN, N.Y." in the lower left corner. Included in the box is a wood handled punch/ cartridge ejector and a instruction sheet titled "ADVANTAGES OF THE/ NEW NATIONAL REVOLVER".

Rating Definition:

Excellent revolver, with 90% of the bright original blue finish, showing a brown patina concentrated on the top of the barrel and scattered light scratches. 95% of the attractive darkened silver is present on the frame, with well aged brass visible along the high edges. Grips are excellent, with a few small dings concentrated on the butt. Box is good as repaired, with some glue professionally applied to the interior and minimal exterior wear. The label is starting to darken near the left edge, but otherwise shows excellent text and image quality.
