Description:

Approximately 3,000 of these revolvers were manufactured circa 1860. It is marked "BLISS & GOODYEAR, NEW HAVEN, CT." on top of the barrel. Six round cylinder, spur trigger and fitted with ivory grips with an eagle and snake carved on the left panel. The frame and sides of the loading lever are broad leaf scroll engraved with a punch dot background and the cylinder between the chambers and the top of the backstrap are engraved with geometric patterns with punch dot fill. The revolver is complete in a mahogany case with brown velvet lining, with a brass Colt style eagle flask, nutcracker style brass bullet mold and a Goldsmark cap tin with three percussion caps and key for the case.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains approximately 50% of the original bright blue finish showing signs of once being lightly cleaned with emery paper. The remaining metal surfaces have a crisp smooth gray patina. The grips are excellent with age lines on the bottom, replacement screw, the right panel shows a very nice grain pattern and is beginning to age to a mellow patina. The engraving is crisp. The action is fine. The case is fine with one of the corners of the base beginning to separate, one of the hinge screws is stripped, the lining is coming up on the upper right hand corner and the lining shows heavy wear and staining. The flask and mold are fine.
