Description:

Manufactured in the early mid 1920s, this unique 5 round revolving shotgun was the invention of a German named Becker. Only about 100 were made by the Romerwerk Suhl. It was tested and approved by the DEVA, Deutsche Versuchs-Anstalt fur Handfeuerwaffen. The shotgun fires a 2 1/2" 16 gauge shell which is loaded through a port on the right side of the receiver into a 5 round cylinder with independent sleeves for each shell. As the chambers are loaded the cylinder rotates until all five are loaded. The barrel is pulled forward through the hand guard which cocks the first shot. When the first round is fired, the barrel automatically recoils forward, locks and the cylinder rotates ready for the next shot. The shells are manually ejected by an ejection rod mounted on the right side of the barrel. The stepped barrel has a brass bead front sight and solid rib on the rear half. The only visible marking is "513" on the left rear of the barrel and the back of the cylinder is marked with the matching serial number, an eagle and "crown / U" proof marks. The cylinder has large dished flutes and each chamber is numbered with Roman numerals I through V. The shotgun is mounted with a checkered forearm and round knob pistol grip replacement stock with cheek piece and a replacement black checkered plastic buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Refinished with 98% of the blue finish remaining with some minor finished over pitting on the side of the rib. The breech end of the barrel has had some welding work done to it. There is a large chip in the metal on the outer edge of the cylinder. The remaining metal surfaces retain 95% blue finish with some light spotting on the trigger guard. The stock is good with most of the original varnish remaining and a few scattered minor dings, dents and scratches. The sling swivel stud is absent.
