Manufactured circa 1800, this rifle features an octagon barrel with fixed sights and marked "CR" near the breech. Consignor notes state that the rifle was manufactured in Pennsylvania. Iron action with brass furniture including the ramrod pipes, scroll pattern and engraved side plate and forend cap. The lock plate is unmarked. Mounted on a full length tiger stripe maple stock with brass crescent buttplate and engraved brass patch box. The forearm and wrist feature a simple scroll pattern, along with raised relief carved scrollwork with brass oval inlay near the raised cheekpiece on the left side of the buttstock. Complete with a replacement wooden ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Good. The iron surfaces have a smooth dark patina, along with even minor oxidation. Overall the brass has a smooth dark aged patina. The two piece forearm is beginning to separate and stock is cracked at the flats. Otherwise the stock is about good with a chip absent near the upper tang, a pressure dent on the wrist and couple hairline cracks near the lock plate, along with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically very good.
