Description:

The lock is marked "GOULCHER" in a banner in behind the replacement hammer and engraved with a game bird scene. The top barrel flat is elaborately script engraved "J. Fleeger" and is equipped with replacement fixed sights. John Fleeger was a gunsmith in Allegheny, Pennsylvania who worked with his son William circa 1861-1886 in the Allegheny Gun Works (Reference: AMERICAN GUNSMITHS by Frank Sellers). Nicely figured tiger maple full length stock, double set triggers, replacement percussion nipple, brass furniture including the patch box and four barrel wedges, heel extension, and wooden ramrod.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel has a smooth pleasant dark brown patina. The brass has a mellow aged patina. There is a hairline crack near the side plate, otherwise the stock is very fine with some scattered handling marks.
