Description:

Manufactured circa 1817 to 1820, this is an example of a Model 1816 pistol with the bolster type percussion conversion. This pistol has very limited traces of the lock plate marking: "S.NORTH" in a downward curve, over an American Eagle with "U" and "S" at either side over "MIDLN CON". Bolster style conversion with the bolster marked "A.W." Brass blade front sight on forward strap. All iron mountings, with the wooden ramrod replaced by an iron swivel ramrod. There are no visible stock markings.

Rating Definition:

Good. Overall the pistol has balance between a smooth brown-gray patina and smooth gray patina, with smooth dark patina on the hammer and lock plate. There is some minor flash pitting, along with some minor pitting overall. There is a missing chip near the butt and near the trigger guard, otherwise the stock is very good with a couple missing slivers and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine.
