Designed and introduced in 1937, this style of hewer became the standard officer sidearm for the Reichsarbertsdienst (Reichs Work Service), with the 1934 pattern becoming a NCO sidearm. Blade is 10 1/4 inch long, with thin single fullers, scimitar-like front clip, "crown/ K/ SOLINGEN" makers mark and acid etched "Arbeit adelt" (Work ennobles) slogan on the right side. Silver finished dual quillion cross guard with "spade and grain" RAD logo on the right, smooth imitation ivory grip panels and detailed eagle head pommel. Silver finished sheath, with pebbled center panel bordered by shoots of grain, overlapping scroll at the throat and silver wire decorated green felt belt hanger with oak leaf decorated fittings. Also includes a RAD button, enamel with "ABTLG.4/ 305 BRAUNSCHWEIG" in gold along the bottom edge.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with some light wear and spotting on the blade, dark patina on the silver and minor wear on the grips and hanger.
