Description:

Excellent example of a standard 1908 German Luger pistol manufactured by the Erfurt factory in 1911. These early 1908 model Lugers were all made without the stock lug and hold open latch with this pistol later being modified to add the hold open device. The top of the chamber is marked "1911" for the (first) year of manufacture and the toggle is marked "ERFURT" with crown above. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with small "crown / RC" above larger "crown/C", "crown/G" proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The barrel has "crown/T" mark on left side and Imperial Eagle proof on right side. The yoke of the frame has the military style serial number and the bottom of the barrel is also serial numbered with barrel and diameter size of "8,82". On right grip panel below frame rail is marked "GERMANY" with "crown/P". The various small parts all have the last two digits of the serial number along with the crown Erfurt acceptance proof mark. Marked "GESICHERT" above safety lever. It is complete with an original WWI nickel plated wood base magazine with no visible markings.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The pistol retains approximately 85% of the slightly faded original finish with wear on the toe of the front strap, muzzle and some high edges. There is some thinning on the left side of the barrel and light spotting on the grip straps. Almost 50% of the original straw colors remain on the small components with some wear and discoloration on the takedown lever and trigger, and some light pitting on the safety lever. The grips are very fine with scattered minor bruises, a few minor dings, some light wear on the lower edges and crisp checkering. The magazine is in excellent condition with strong spring. The markings are clear and crisp. Mechanically fine, but needs different magazine to make hold open work.
