Description:

This is an outstanding example of a Super RARE Original German made Walther Factory engraved TPH pistol that is doubly RARE because it has NO Import markings anywhere. Engraving on this model is such a rarity that very few people have even seen one in this country and even Rankin doesn't picture one in his book (volume III) on Walther pistols. In the Walther instruction manual, the factory termed this model with engraving, as the "Deluxe" model and to compliment these pistols, Walther also lined the inside of the brown wood grain pattern shipping box with a red felt lining to simulate a presentation case allowing the pistol to be more adequately or properly displayed. These TPH pistols were originally introduced in the summer of 1968 and were imported for just a couple of months before being completely banned by the 1968 gun control act, that was passed later that fall. Most of German made TPH pistols that were imported into this country are all marked on the left side of the slide with the large obtrusive "INTERARMS" factory logo, who was the sole importer for Walther at that time, this pistol has NO such markings. These pistols were basically a scaled down version of the successful Walther PPK design, only with an all steel slide and a duraluminum frame. The slide of this specific pistol is factory engraved in the traditional German Oak Leaf and Acorn pattern with a fine punch dot, back ground shading that covers 98% of the slide except for the area inside the factory markings. The right rear section of the slide has a gold colored, raised relief, double Oak leaf and acorn, which could certainly be an indicator of a special order pistol. The left side of the slide is marked "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do." over the "Walther Banner/ MODEL TPH 22 CAL." The right side of the slide is marked with the serial number and the chamber area is marked "74" next to the Walther factory Antler proof mark, next to the German Eagle "N" firing proof. It is fitted with a set of standard Walther black plastic 3/4 checkered grips with the small "WALTHER" Banner on the side of each grip panel, with "MADE IN GERMANY" on the lower edge of each grip. It has the steel slide that is still "In the White" from the Walther factory with the correct black anodized finish on the frame, with the all blued trigger, sights, hammer and safety lever. It is complete with one magazine, the original and matching Walther wood grain pattern cardboard box with red felt lining with the Walther factory label on the end, the original German language instruction manual, the warranty card and a blued cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

As new with 99% of the original Walther factory finish, showing no signs of ever having been fired with a few light scratches on the chamber area from cycling the slide. The frame retains 99% of it's original black anodized finish and the grips are also in excellent, with sharp checkering with no cracks, chips or damage. The box is in very good plus condition showing a nice original brown wood grain pattern overall with light wear on the edges of the box with two corners that have broken out, (which could easily be repaired). The instruction manual is also in excellent condition . Just a fantastic example of a super RARE, Walther factory engraved, NON-Import marked Walther TPH pistol.
