Manufactured in 1933, this scarce Colt Shooting Master Target revolver is chambered in caliber .45 Long Colt and has the distinctive 6-inch barrel, rounded profile butt, checkered grip straps, trigger, hammer and ejector rod head, checkered wrap around grips with a decorative ribbon design on the left panel, elevation adjustable target front and windage adjustable rear sights, and matted top strap. The butt is not fitted with a lanyard loop. The top of the barrel has the late style two-line Hartford address and 1884, 1905 and 1926 patent dates. The left side of the barrel retains the early: "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT" model and caliber markings. The Rampant Colt trademark is located on the left side of the frame behind the cylinder catch. The Colt "VP" triangle proof mark and "4" assembly number are stamped on the left side of the frame above the front and rear trigger guard bows. The serial number is located on the inside of the crane well on the frame and on the inside of the crane. Colt Shooting Master Revolvers with the early "NEW SERVICE" markings chambered for cartridges other than .38 Special are rare. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, 45/c caliber, 6" barrel, blue finish, grips "Not Listed", under special features "Furnished with a round butt configuration" and that it was sold to H.D. Freeston, Irvington, New York and shipped as 1 to H & D Folsom Arms Company, New York, N.Y. on December 19, 1933.

Excellent. The revolver retains 98% plus of the original finish with two small areas of minor pitting on the right side of the frame that have been lightly cleaned. The grips are excellent with a few minor pressure dents, light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are sharp. The action is excellent.
