Description:

The Model 1880 Entrenching Tool was designed for issue to troops equipped with an angular bayonet. The tool has an 8 inch shovel-shaped blade with bright finish and solid bar cross guard. The grip is ribbed turned oak, with "US" branded into one side near the guard. The tool has a leather covered metal scabbard, stamped "U.S." on the front, with a brass throat and metal suspension ring. Very good, with sharpening marks and dings on the edge, mild spotting on the blade, and light handling marks. Grip is very good, with mild dings and chipping. Sheath is fair, with material loss at the edges, a few scratches and tears, and rust on the ring.
