Description:

A 5" diameter metal painted canteen, "WE DRANK FROM THE SAME CANTEEN"/Louisville/1861-1895 (see image). An unmarked wooden canteen with leather strap. 3 Model 1858 style U.S. canteens with the distinctive bullseye pattern. (All spouts are marked with the contractor). One has a felt covering, one is painted blue with iron pull ring and one is left in the white with cork missing pull ring). 5 canteens with various covers with 4 having stenciled markings (these markings include U.S. Army medical department insignia, "64", "RIA / 1887" and "Thos Brady", (see image).

Rating Definition:

All canteens are fair to good. Overall the canteens have some minor dents and minor oxidation. A Model 1858 style canteen is partially collapsed. The wooden canteen has much of the finish with hardened leather straps. The covers show some minor stains. The "64" marked cover has a third of the material missing.
