Devoid of military contract or inspection markings, this pistol is believed to have been used as a tool room or set up model by Remington Rand. Fixed sights, with the left side of the slide is marked "REMINGTON RAND INC./ SYRACUSE. N.Y. U.S.A.", "P6" on the right side of the frame and both smooth walnut grip panels, and High Standard barrel markings, with no other markings present on the pistol. A blue finish is present on the barrel, extractor, thin hammer, serrated slide catch, checkered thumb safety, long grip safety, magazine catch, arched checkered mainspring housing and the lanyard staple, with the remainder in bright steel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with some hints of a brown patina showing on the slide and frame, along with light scratches and dings. The blue components are very good, with the start of a gray patina on the grip safety. Grips are very fine, with mild pressure dents. Mechanically excellent. Whatever the explanation for this truly unique Model 1911A1, writer believes it to be correct and likes the fact that is clearly maker marked and serialized. This is always helpful in research and someday may yield some interesting history.
