Description:

Rare 1915 French poster by artist Maurice Louis Henri Neumont. This 35-inch by 42-inch poster depicts a resolute French Poilu hurling a hand grenade from a trench. The very detailed art-work accurately depicts the early WWI French uniform with kepi, greatcoat, leggings, Lebel rifle and primitive hand grenade. The poster caption reads: "Day of the Soldier/25 and 26/December/1915/Organized by Parliament". The poster was printed by Devambez in Paris. Maurice Neumont executed some of the most famous and evocative French WWI propaganda posters. This is one of his best pieces. The poster is professionally framed and matted.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. This original poster is in exceptional condition. The poster has no tears or creases and is not faded. The frame is in excellent condition. This is a scarce, outstanding, WWI poster in excellent original condition.
