Barrel: 18 inch round
Finish: parkerized

Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 78
Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun
Description:

This carbine is a very early M1 Carbine as manufactured by the Inland Div. of the General Motors Corp. in early 1943, that remains substantially correct with most of the early WWII production features, that is consecutively serial numbered to the M1 Carbine in lot B. With over 7 Million M1 Carbines manufactured by the Inland Div of General Motors what are the chances that someone could pair up these two carbines??? In over thirty years of collecting this is the ONLY set of consecutively numbered M1 Carbines that this describer has ever seen. This carbine has the standard 'US CARBINE/M1' markings on the front receiver ring with the larger style, early 'INLAND DIV./248815' markings on the rear of the receiver. The barrel is marked 'INLAND MFG DIV/ GENERAL MOTORS'2-43'. This carbine is fitted with the following style parts: the original flat blue bolt that is marked 'A.I.' on the side of the lug, first pattern flip rear sight, the first pattern Inland trigger guard with the up-right 'INLAND' logo on the right rear side, the smooth push button safety, the M1 style magazine catch with only the 'M' markings on the side, the 'HI' marked hammer, the correct operating slide with the circled 'PI' marking inside. It does have the later type three barrel band with the bayonet lug. The stock is a later low wood, oval cut M1 stock that is marked 'IO' in the sling slot and it has a single large cross-cannon Ordnance cartouche on the right side next to a boxed 'RIA/E.B.' proof. The hand guard is an early two rivet pattern that is marked 'PU' on the underside. It is complete with one blued 'UI' marked magazine. The carbine has a late matching gray green parkerized parts on the metal except for the blued bolt.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 98% of the GI Parkerized finish overall with only minor wear on the right receiver rail, the front and rear ends of the bolt, the front edges of the muzzle as well as the edges and high spots overall. The stock and hand guard both have a nice matching medium brown color with minor handling marks overall. A very nice example with just a couple of later parts.

B) Exceptional Inland Division M1 Carbine Consecutively Numbered To Lot A Serial Number 248816

Manufacturer: Inland

Type: Carbine
Gauge: 30 Carbine
Barrel: 18 inch round
Finish: parkerized
Grip:
Stock: walnut
Item Views: 885
Serial Number:
Catalog Page: 78
Class: Curio & Relic Long Gun
Description:

This carbine is a correct early WWII model with the following features. This carbine has the standard 'US CARBINE/M1' markings on the front receiver ring with the larger style, early 'INLAND DIV./248816' markings on the rear of the receiver. The barrel is marked 'INLAND MFG DIV/ GENERAL MOTORS/3-43'. This carbine is fitted with the following early style parts: the original flat blue bolt that is marked 'A.I.' on the side of the lug, the first pattern, blued flip rear sight marked with a letter 'S' on the side, the first pattern Inland trigger guard with the up-right 'INLAND' logo on the right rear side, the smooth push button safety, the M1 style magazine catch with only the 'M' markings on the side, the 'HI' marked hammer, the correct operating slide with the circled 'PI' marking inside. It does have the later type three barrel band that is marked 'J.M.Q.' on the side with the bayonet lug. It is still fitted with the correct early style, high wood, 'I' cut oiler slot walnut stock that has the early style large 'Flame and Shell' ordnance proof and larger 'IO' proof inside the sling slot. It is also correctly stamped with a circled 'P' proof on the flat of the pistol grip. This is NOT a rebuilt proof the early Inland M1 carbines had this 'P' proof and it was eventually phased out around the 650,000 serial number range. It also still retains the correct two-rivet 'IO' marked hand guard. This carbine has the all green parkerized GI finish with the blued bolt and rear sight.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 98% of the original GI parkerized finish overall with minor edge and high spot overall with a little wear on the receiver side rail. The stock and hand guard are both in excellent condition with minor handling marks and a very nice matching color on both pieces. What a pair of very scarce consecutively numbered Inland Div. WWII M1 Carbines.
