U.S. contract M1911A1 Automatic pistol manufactured by the Union Switch & Signal Company of Swissvale, Pennsylvania with blue-tinted, Du-Lite, finish and checkered, brown plastic stocks. The right side of the frame is marked : "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/No 1072347 behind the slide stop hole and "M 1911 A1 U.S.ARMY" in front of it. The left side of the slide is stamped with encircled "R.C.D." Ordnance final inspection and a "P" proof mark above the magazine release. The left side of the slide is stamped with the "U/S/S" logo followed by "U.S. & S. CO./SWISSVALE. PA. U.S.A. in two unequal lines. A "P" proof mark is tamped on the top of the slide ahead of the rear sight. The pistol has the correct blue, High Standard "HS" marked barrel and Keyes Fibre Co., stocks. The pistol is fitted with a blued "C-R" (Risdon Mfg. Co.,) magazine. The safety lock and slide stop are checkered. The narrow hammer has borderless checkering, the mainspring housing has course checkering and the trigger is stamped.

Very good. The pistol has been refinished and remarked and retains nearly 98% of the blue black finish. The barrel has about 85% of the blue finish with some light pitting in the bore. The proof marks on the slide and frame were stamped before the pistol was re-finished. The markings on the right side of the frame have also been restored. The stocks show moderate wear and the upper edge of the left stock has a small chip.
