Description:

This excellent U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 Pistol was manufactured in October 1944. The pistol has a gray-green parkerized finish, blued barrel and checkered brown plastic stocks. The pistol has a un-numbered slide, stamped trigger, checkered slide stop and safety lock, narrow hammer with checkered spur and serrated main spring housing. The pistol is complete with a late production, blued magazine. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block, the Rampant Colt trademark and the two-line Colt legend. The Ordnance inspector's initials, "G.H.D." are stamped above the magazine release and a "P" proof mark is stamped below it. A "P" is stamped on the top of the slide between the rear sight and the ejection port. The right side of the frame is stamped with a faint Ordnance escutcheon behind the grip and the U.S. Property markings and serial number in front of it. "M1911A1 U.S. ARMY" is stamped on the right side of the frame in front of the slide stop hole. An affidavit that accompanies the pistols states that it was the property of CWO-4 William J. Kilkenny and that he served as a Coast Guard Pay and Supply Warrant Officer in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% of the gray-green parkerized finish. Wear is limited to some edge wear on the high points of the slide and frame and some scattered minor discoloration spots. The barrel has some cycling wear on the chamber and retains about 90% of the blue finish. The bore is bright. The stocks are excellent. The magazine shows some wear and has about 95% of the dull blue finish. All the components appear to be correct for this pistol. This is an excellent example of a late 1944 production Colt Model 1911A1 Pistol.
