Description:

Manufactured in 1906, this Model 1873 carbine is a Third Model with the dust cover operating on the central guide that is integrally machined as part of the receiver. Fixed front and sporting leaf rear sights (elevator missing), with the saddle ring staple removed. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two line address/patent date marking and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the model designation, serial number on the lower tang, and a very faint "38 CAL" on the brass cartridge elevator. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with carbine buttplate with compartment.

Rating Definition:

Good. The carbine has a smooth dark brown patina overall with some scattered pin point pitting. The saddle ring staple has been removed and filed down during period of usage and has since turned brown. The wood is good with a few minor gouges and some minor dings and scratches. The action is fine.
