Description:

Produced mainly in Belgium, the term "Brevete" can be applied to any revolver made in Europe under license by Colt using one or more of their patents. The top barrel flat is marked "COLT / PATENT" at the breech and the top is relief engraved "LEPAGE FRERES A PARIS 12 RUE D'ENGHIEN. There is a small "crown / M" proof mark on the left side of the barrel lug. The cylinder is roll engraved with a hunting dog and game bird field scene and on one of the shoulders are "crown / M" and "E / LG / *" in an oval proofmarks. The face of the cylinder is marked "S / N / GILON". The bottom of the loading lever lug is marked "NC". Matching serial number on the barrel, frame and trigger guard. Brass post front sight and hammer notch rear sight, rounded hammer spur, silver plated round brass trigger guard and backstrap and fitted with one piece smooth, nicely figured walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned and are a smooth gray with some minor pitting on the right side of the barrel and loading lever. The trigger guard and backstrap retain about 90% of the original silver plating with loss on the trigger guard, silvered out on the butt and starting to silver out on the part of the backstrap. There are several small dents on the butt. The grips are near excellent with several small dings on the bottoms, almost all of the original varnish and a few scattered minor dents and dings. The markings and cylinder scene are clear. The action is fine.
