Description:

This belt revolver is of very unusual construction. In outline it has the general appearance of the Smith & Wesson Number 2 army revolver with a tip-up barrel, but there the resemblance ends. The barrel support frame is separate from the rest of the frame. It is a U-shaped iron piece that holds the barrel, cylinder, and cylinder stop. It is held to the rear frame by screws passing through it and the two sides of the rear frame. The 1 5/8 inch cylinder has six chambers with Integral nipples rotating right, and stop notches on the rear. The right side plate is permanently affixed to the grip frame by rivets. It has a boss for the hammer. The trigger guard is riveted to it. A screw in the front of the trigger guard secures it to the cylinder frame. The two halves of the rear frame are fastened with four screws. The front two pass through the cylinder frame and fasten it to the rear frame. One of the front frame screws, hand, trigger spring and firing pin are missing. The front sight is a brass bead set directly into the barrel, the rear a notch in the frame.

Rating Definition:

Period refinished. Retains most of dull blue applied over pitting and dents. Most of the blue missing from left side plate. Bore is good. Needs work. Pictured in "AMERICAN PERCUSSION REVOLVERS", p. 203
