Description:

This revolver was manufactured circa 1851 by Springfield Arms and was based on Elijah Jacquith's 1838 patent. Known as the Jaquith Patent Belt Model, production is estimated at less than 150 pieces. The revolver was superseded by the similar Warner Patent Belt Model, which used a modified Jaquith cylinder rotating hand. This revolver is late production example with limited traces of the "SPRINGFIELD ARMS" marking stamped on the top strap. The front grip strap is hand marked in pen "U085" (likely a museum or private collector number). The sides of the frame, hammer, backstrap and top strap feature a scroll engraving, with "1838 / JAQUITH PATENT" on the right side of the frame. Fitted with smooth grips.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The revolver has a smooth dark brown patina. The grips are very good with the exception of chipped toes and numerous minor dings mostly on the bottoms. Mechanically needs some work, but functions.
