Barrel: 25 1/2 inch octagon
Finish: blue

Stock: walnut
Item Views: 858

Class: Antique
Description:

Manufactured circa 1850s, with total quantity estimated at approximately 300 to 350. This is an early produced specimen since it was manufactured without provisions for a loading lever. This rifle has only a wood ramrod that locks to the frame by a screw extension. Half moon front sight and adjustable notch rear sight. The top strap is marked "JAMES WARNER. SPRINGFIELD, MASS.", "WARNERS / PATENT" marked on the left side of the frame and the cylinder is stamped with the Warner patent marking. The manually revolving cylinder operates by releasing a lever forward of the trigger. Spur type trigger guard and a crescent buttplate. Mounted on a plain walnut straight grip stock.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The rifle has a mixture of smooth brown patina and smooth gray patina, with some scattered minor spotting. The stock is fine with exception of a barely noticeable hairline crack on upper right, some minor dings and scratches and some residue on the underside. Cylinder does not catch, otherwise action functions properly.
