Description:

Manufactured circa 1850s, with total quantity estimated at approximately 300 to 350. Blade front sight, with the rear sight partially removed on an octagon barrel marked with the serial number on the underside. It has a removable wood ramrod fitted into the tip of the loading lever locking it into its closed position. The top strap is marked "JAMES WARNER. SPRINGFIELD, MASS." and the cylinder is faintly stamped with the Warner patent marking. The manually revolving cylinder operates by releasing a lever forward of the trigger. Spur type trigger guard and a crescent buttplate with a small receptacle that held the short screw-on extension for the ramrod (not included). Mounted on a plain walnut straight grip stock.

Rating Definition:

Fair. Overall the rifle has a smooth gray patina, with some minor flash pitting. The upper tang screw is a replacement. The stock is very good with numerous minor dings and scratches and some shrinkage near the frame. The tip of the ramrod has some material loss. Cylinder release needs repair and the hammer does not hold at a full cock position.
