Description:

The most common of the letter dated Lugers, this pistol is G dated, which was the code for the year 1935. The top of the chamber is marked with the letter "G" and the toggle is marked "S/42". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with two "eagle/63" proofmarks and a droop winged eagle. The droop winged eagle is also marked on the right rear of the barrel and left side of the toggle. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the "eagle/63" proof. The bottom of the barrel is marked with the matching serial number and "8.81". Most of the small components are marked with the partial serial number "87". Straw colored small parts, standard sights, blue magazine with aluminum base numbered to another gun, stock lug on the backstrap and fitted with checkered walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The pistol retains approximately 75% of the faded original finish with overall thinning and wear on the muzzle, left side plate and grip straps. The remaining blue on the grip straps is dull and the exposed areas have a smooth gray patina. There is some smooth gray patina on some of the high edges. Approximately 50% of the original straw color on the small parts remains mixed with a smooth silver gray. The grips are very good with overall scattered minor dents and dings, and crisp checkering. The proofs on the right side of the barrel extension are a weak stamp, otherwise the markings are clear. The mechanics are excellent.
