The top of the receiver ring is marked "byf" the wartime code for the Mauser factory and "42" for the year of manufacture, two eagle/135 proofs (on top and right side), and an eagle firing proof on the right side along with the serial number. Matching serial number on the floor plate and assembly, with an eagle/WaA135 proof. The left side of the barrel is marked with an eagle firing proof and an illegible eagle proof and the right side has an eagle/WaA135 proof. The left side of the receiver is marked "Mod.98", with an eagle/135 proof on the bolt stop. Smooth laminated pistol grip stock with matching serial number, disk, cleaning rod, bayonet lug, eagle proofs and leather sling. The buttplate is marked "brg" over an eagle/WaA487 proof. Visible numbers match.

Very good. The rifle retains approximately 85% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The stock is very good with a few heavy gouges on the buttstock area, and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
