This is an example of a 1917 production German Artillery Luger. The top of the chamber is marked 1917, for the year of manufacture and the top of the toggle is marked "DWM". It has the correct three crown over script proofs on the right side of the barrel extension next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The underside of the barrel is correctly serial numbered to the gun and has the bore dimensions with a small Imperial Eagle proof on the right side of the barrel. This Artillery Luger has the Rare fine tune front and fine tune rear Artillery sights. It has the straw colored small parts with walnut checkered grips and is complete with a nickel plated magazine with a wood bottom base plate. It has matching numbers on all the parts except the magazine which has no number on the wood bottom base. It is complete with an original 1916 dated brown leather artillery holster (only, no straps or stock) and the front is marked "ERNSTSIEGEMUND/DRESDEN/1916" and it has the small take down tool in the pouch inside the flap.

Refinished/assembled. The luger retains most of the dull dip blue finish applied over areas of fine pitting. The modern replacement grips are near mint and are a little thick on the frame. The magazine is in poor condition, having been cleaned with a modified wood base. The holster is all original with clear markings on the front with tight stitching and excellent brown color overall. The leather is stiff and it shows minor age cracking overall.
