This is an example of a Mauser "Black Widow" Luger, so called due to its dark blue/black salt finish. The top of the chamber is dated "41" and the toggle is marked "byf", the war time code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with a German firing proof followed by two "eagle / 655" proofs. The firing proof is marked on the right rear of the barrel and an "eagle / 655" on the left. The bottom of the barrel is marked with the matching serial number over "8.83". The front of the frame and left side of the barrel extension are marked with matching serial number (x suffix on the front of the frame), the left rear of the frame is marked "P.08" and the partial serial number "46" is marked on most of the small components. Fitted with checkered walnut grips, stock lug on the backstrap and has the correct blue "fxo", "P08" marked blue magazine with black plastic base. Complete with a black leather flap holster stamped "SCHAMBACH & CO / BERLIN / 1936" on the back between the belt loops and extra unmarked magazine with aluminum base.

Arsenal/importer refinished. The pistol retains approximately 80% of the dull dark blue/black finish with overall thinning and scattered areas of brown patina. The is some minor spotting on the grip straps and some overall scattered pin prick type pitting. The grips are very good with a few minor nicks and dents, and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is fine. The holster is good with some age cracking, heavy wear on the flap strap and the pull strap has either been torn or cut off and sewed to the in side of the holster. The stitching remains tight.
