This is an example of a DWM Model 1906 Commercial "American Eagle" Luger. The pistol has a rust blue finish with straw-colored small components, checkered walnut grips and nickel-plated magazine with wooden base (unmarked). This is a distinct 1906 American Eagle with the extractor marked "LOADED", the thumb safety lever area on the frame milled bright and the chamber marked with the American Eagle crest. The front of the frame is stamped "54949 / GERMANY". The bottom of the barrel is marked with a crown over "B", "C" and "U" over "172,28" over the serial number, 54949 which is struck over another number, 54654. (Writer believes this to be a factory error). The left side of the barrel extension, breechblock and front toggle link are marked with the commercial "crown / N" proofmark. The takedown lever, side plate and toggle are marked with the partial serial number "49". Replacement period blade front sight, standard notch rear sight and grip safety.

Very fine. The pistol retains approximately 95% slightly faded original finish with some minor wear on the muzzle, side plate and high edges. The trigger guard, grip straps and grip safety show some light spotting. Approximately 70% of the original straw color remains of the small components. The grips are fine with moderate wear on the lower edges, a few scattered minor dings and crisp checkering. There is a crack in the wooden base of the magazine. The markings are clear. Mechanically excellent.
