Description:

Established by Charles Parker shortly after the Civil War, the Parker shotgun is probably the best known of all American shotgun manufacturers. Single bead sight on a concaved solid rib. The Damascus barrels feature 2 1/2 inch chambers, choked full/improved modified with extractors. The top of the barrel rib is marked "PARKER BROS MAKERS, MERIDEN CONN, DAMASCUS STEEL" with fancy outward pointing arrows at each end. Light engraved action with marsh game scenes of ducks on the left side, two quail in a field scene on the right side and two game birds on the bottom. Each side of the frame is marked "PARKER BROS." Automatic tang safety and double trigger. Mounted with a checkered forearm with steel forend insert, engraved hardware and latch assembly marked "PATD. MAR. 26, 1878" and pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap and a checkered hard rubber buttplate with "PARKER / dog / BROTHERS".

Rating Definition:

Good overall, with the barrels exhibiting approximately 40% of the Damascus pattern with a smooth brown patina in the protected areas and a mixture between a smooth gray patina and a smooth dark blue patina overall. There are a few minor dings in the barrels. The action exhibits fine surface scratches from being cleaned bright at one time and are beginning to age again. There are some faint traces of case color in the protected areas. The engraving is beginning to fade in some spots. The markings are clear. The wood is very good with some minor to moderate scratches, nicks, dings and dents. There are single moderate gouges in the pistol grip and forearm checkering, otherwise the checkering is sharp.
