Description:

Produced in Belgium, the overall design of this weapon follows T.A. Rauh's 1866 American patent, integrating a double action pinfire revolver into the guard and hilt sections of a light cavalry saber. While arms of this type were never issued by an army, these combination weapons became popular among the officer corps of Europe as a private purchase weapon. 32" long blade, with a short back clip and a set of dual fullers expanding to single fullers, with acid etched decoration on the lower third of the blade. The top strap of the revolver section is marked "H.G.&F./ BREVETES" on the left side, with Liege proofs on the cylinder, barrel and ejector rod running along the right side of the blade, "b" shaped hand guard, long trigger and checkered grips with finger grooves. With a metal sheath, fitted with a decorative drag, a pair of hanging rings and a channel worked into the right side to accommodate the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with some light spotting and handling marks on the bright steel. The blade is excellent with exceptional polish and fine decoration. Grips are very fine with sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
