Description:

Measures 33 3/4" in total length, with a brass tip, 4/5" diameter shaft with snakeskin wrap and a 1 1/2" tall and 9/10" wide silver knob top. Included with the cane is a letter from a Davidson County (Tenn.) judge, a former owner of the cane, who reports that it was among the items that was released to the market when Countess Sylvia Szapary, granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt II, sold the "Breakers" estate in Rhode Island to the local historical society. The letter is unclear if this cane was owned by "Commodore" Cornelius Vanderbilt, who built most of the family fortune, or his grandson, Cornelius Vanderbilt II, who built the Breakers Estate.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Some tears are visible in the skin, and mild dents on the head.
