Description:

This is just an exceptional example of a rare Russian "KGB" pistol with equally rare Latvian "Presentation Inscription" on the left side of the slide. These pistols were developed in the late 1970s early 1980s for use as both a small compact back up pistol for KGB and GRU agents. They fire a very small, short range, highly efficient 5.5mm cartridge that looks similar to a necked down 25 ACP. The bullet is a copper plated truncated cone design that was designed for high penetration with minimal flash or noise. These pistols were primarily manufactured by the Baikal or Izhevsk factory and are very rarely seen outside of Russia. The pistol has a direct blow back action very similar to the Walther PPK. This pistol has a very slap-sided frame and slide design. This allows the pistol to be very easy concealed in a coat pocket. The pistol is approximately 1/2 of an inch wide. This specific pistol has a rare inscription on the left side of the slide. The inscription reads; "Rihardan Palmeran/Par Leguldijumu Latvijas Neatkaribas/Nostrprinasana/93.22.08", which loosely translates as "For Contribution to Latvian Reinforcement of the Independence, August 22, 1993". The pistol is also marked with the serial number "A013" on both the slide and frame and a small "MC" stamped on the right side of the frame above the trigger. The slab-sided grips have longitudinal serrations and the left side is marked "Baikal". The pistol has fixed front and rear sight and a decocking lever/safety with a firing pin block. This pistol is complete with one spare original magazine, two boxes of original 5.5mm ammo (80 rounds total) with eight loose rounds tapped to a cardboard section for display.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 96% of the original factory blue/black finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear, and some minor scratches on the sides of the slide from handling. The bore is excellent. The grips are in excellent condition with no cracks or damage. The ammunition is in like new condition. An excellent example of a exceptionally rare Russian "PSM" KGB Presentation pistol.
